Grażyna Bacewicz’s Variations for Orchestra, IGB 11, was composed in 1957 and premiered in 1958 at the Warsaw Autumn Festival, conducted by Jan Krenz. The work consists of a 19-bar theme followed by eight continuous variations, lasting about 12 minutes.

Each variation presents a distinct texture or mood, from lyrical to sharply rhythmic. Bacewicz uses clear motivic development and colorful orchestration, highlighting woodwinds, brass, and agile string writing.

The piece reflects her neoclassical roots with modernist clarity. It is tightly constructed, varied in expression, and a strong example of her mature orchestral style.
